Macro-synthetic fibers have been a critical component in a system that’s helped solve a variety of industry challenges. The use of macro-synthetic fibers at a high dosage rate has allowed extended joint spacing beyond ACI recommendations. These fibers have produced impressive results, reducing and, in some cases, eliminating cracking. When cracks do occur, macro-synthetics help them remain tightly closed.
Despite all the benefits and wide range of solutions macro-synthetic fibers have provided, a common misconception is that they cannot be used in decorative applications. This project shows otherwise. At a 7.5-lb dosage rate of Forta Ferro, this 900 sq ft floor was polished. Joints were placed for aesthetics, and there are no random cracks or fiber showing at the surface of the slab.
